The story behind Sarah's Finds

Sarah Couture launched "Les Trouvailles de Sarah" blog, which is distinguished by its fashion content, helping its readers find unique products. We love Sarah for her generosity and authenticity! Moreover, since the very beginning of Gibou, she has shown us her genuine love for our products, which makes us particularly happy :)

Sarah Couture

To celebrate autumn, we decided to launch a collaboration that is available from October 26 to November 6, 2016. She chose two mixes of her favorite colors to create two hat and scarf sets. Visit the "Les Trouvailles de Sarah" section of our menu to see her choices! http://gibou.ca/collections/les-trouvailles-de-sarah

We took advantage of this collaboration to ask her about her journey. Always smiling, here are her answers that demystify the story behind this successful blog.

- When and how did the idea of starting a blog come about?
The idea came to me after several requests on Instagram about my looks and where I found my clothes. I started it for fun, on a whim one winter evening in February.
- What were the steps before launching the concept?
Honestly, there weren't really any steps, it was truly a whim. I quickly thought of a name and a logo. After a week, I decided to launch the Facebook page and start sharing my "finds."
- Can you tell us about the evolution of the project in recent years?
In the beginning, in 2014, it was a hobby. I had a full-time job in communications in Montreal. For personal reasons, I decided to return to Quebec (I am a native of Quebec). Then, I decided to go into business to organize all kinds of events, which also allowed me to create content for the blog. I decided to organize events related to the blog. Since the beginning of 2016, I now live 100% from my blog, I create my content, I have a few collaborators, and I have many exciting projects underway!
- What do you prefer about your job?
I think it's the creative side and the fact that I'm my own "boss." I love creating content for different companies; I touch everything: social media management, marketing, advertising, public relations – in short, it's really stimulating.
- What do you like less?
The accounting side, otherwise nothing. I like that my hours are atypical; I even enjoy working in the evening!
- What does a typical day look like?
I settle into my office in the morning, always around the same time if I don't have appointments. I start by managing my social media, responding to messages and comments. Then, I always make a "things to do" list for the day. I go through my emails, respond to requests, and look at upcoming events. Then I create content, brainstorm what's coming, how I could create my posts, etc.
- Has there been a significant moment in your career path?
I would say in the fall of 2015, when I decided to leave my part-time job and commit 100% to my project and live from my blog! That was a major turning point for me, and I truly don't regret taking the leap.
- What is the best advice you've been given?
It's going to sound very cliché, but it's to love what you do. If you only see the gain at the end of the line... you're not doing it for the right reasons. You have to be passionate and not count the hours. That's what makes me tick!
